The development of a quality assurance pilot program for proficiency testing in cardiovascular disease

The Royal College of Pathologist of Australasia Quality Assurance Program

This project will develop and trial an external quality assurance program to test the proficiency of laboratories performing genetic diagnostics in cardiovascular disease (CVD). The project will develop:
  • a program for proficiency testing that covers the whole spectrum of CVD rather than individual external quality assurance (EQA) programs.
  • an EQA scoring system to assess the ability of laboratories to correctly identify and clinically interpret each specific DNA gene variant found in the CVD reference testing standard.
