A number of research activities are being undertaken by the Initiative. These activities aim to:

  • better understand the evidence base relating to the use of biosimilar medicines in Australia and internationally;
  • separate the evidence from commentary;
  • gather data on current awareness and attitudes towards biologic and biosimilar medicines in Australia; and
  • identify critical issues (including barriers to uptake) impacting on the acceptance and use of biosimilar medicines in Australia and internationally.
A Research Framework has been developed which provides guiding principles for the Initiative's research activities. This includes the purpose, objectives, scope and methods of the research that has been and will continue to be undertaken.
