Figure 4 shows the notification rate per 100,000 population for campylobacteriosis, in Australia in 2011, by age group and sex. Campylobacteriosis is more frequently notified in males in almost every age group and most particularly in the 0-4 age group, where notification rates are highest for both sexes (152 per 100,000 versus 13 per 100,000), and also in the over 85 years age group, where rates are second highest for males but 9th highest for females, (116 per 100,000 versus 67 per 100,000). Overall rates are lowest for both sexes in 10-14 year olds, peak for females in 20-24 year olds, decrease for both in the late 20s and 30s and then generally increase until the 80-84 age group.
