Figure 2 Figure 2 shows ASPREN swab testing results from 1 January to 31 December 2016 by week of report. Viruses monitored are as follows: influenza A, influenza B, respiratory syncytial virus, parainfluenza virus type 1, 2 and 3, adenovirus, rhinovirus, metapneumovirus, Mycoplasma pneumonaie, and pertussis. Data are presented as proportion positivity of all swabs tested. • Influenza positivity peak occurred during the inter-seasonal period during week 6 (week ending 12/2/2017). It is important to note that this represents a small number of samples and does not indicate influenza season onset. • Rhinovirus was the most commonly detected respiratory virus (25.5% of all tests performed) peaking in weeks 13 with 6 cases detected. • Influenza A was the second most commonly detected respiratory virus (18.9% of all tests performed) peaking in week 9 with 4 cases detected. • RSV is the third most common respiratory virus representing 5.7% of all specimens tested. It peaked in weeks 13 with 2 cases detected. • Influenza B was the fourth most commonly detected virus with 4.7% of all specimens tested being positive for influenza B. Influenza B cases peaked in weeks 4, 6, 9, 12 and 13 with 1 case detected.
