A dual column and line graph with the primary vertical axis (stacked column graph) demonstrating the detection of respiratory viruses by week of report from 1 January – 30 September 2013. The secondary vertical axis (line graph) demonstrates overall influenza positivity by week of report. Viruses monitored are as follows: influenza A, influenza A H1N1(2009), influenza B, respiratory syncytial virus, parainfluenza virus type 1, 2 and 3, adenovirus, rhinovirus, metapneumovirus, enterovirus, myco pneumonaie, and pertussis. An influenza positivity peak occurred at week 3 at 47% positivity, representing 8 positive samples, indicating higher than usual inter-seasonal activity. Influenza positivity peaked during influenza season in week 32 at 35%. Rhinovirus was the most commonly detected respiratory virus, peaking twice when 16 positive specimens were collected in both week 23 and 30. Influenza A is the second most commonly detected virus, peaking with 27 samples in week 32. RSV is the third most common respiratory virus, peaking at week 28 with 13 specimens detected.
