This figure shows, for Western Australia, the Northern Territory and Queensland, the total number of notifications of congenital syphilis cases, the proportion of cases associated with the outbreak and rate of congenital syphilis per 100,000 live births between 2004 and 31 December 2015. Notifications in Indigenous people declined between 2004 and 2010, from 9 to 3 cases. Since 2011, 7 of the 11 congenital syphilis cases were associated with the outbreak. The rate per 100,000 live births declined between 2004 and 2011, from 135.3 to 21.5 respectively. No cases were reported in 2012, after which rates per 100,000 live births increased to 42.7 in 2013, 31.2 in 2014 and 20.8 in 2015.
