Similar to previous seasonal influenza epidemics, hospitalisation rates associated with pandemic influenza in 2009 remained highest among children aged less than 5 years, however, in contrast to previous seasons, hospitalisation in 2009 was also more common among those aged 50-59 years and lower amongst those aged 75 years and over.
